These last couple of weeks I’ve been made very aware of offense. People told me that I offended them without me actually doing or saying anything. So at first I thought, well “what’s wrong with me?” , “why am I so different?” , “I’m not even doing anything, how can I offend people?”
And then it hit me(literally) , it’s the light in me that offends people. It’s not anything I do, it’s just simply being present in a place where someone is living in too much darkness. If Jesus lives in you, you have this light too, and you’re probably gonna offend people without actually doing or saying anything too. I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me into the direction of John 16.
“And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. “(John 16:8-11 ESV)
The only reason why people will feel offended when you actually didn’t say or do anything is probably because the Holy Spirit is convicting them of these things. You’re not always doing something wrong, sometimes it’s just a sign that you are doing something right.
Greater is the light in you, than this world.
